IELTS is an international standardized test of English language proficiency. It is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pty Ltd, and was established in 1989. It tests the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills in English of candidates all over the world and acts as a proof of English Proficiency for non-native speaker.
The Speaking part of IELTS lasts for 15 minutes maximum. In this module, candidates should be able to keep up their discussion in a given topic with a certified examiner. Speaking module contains three parts: Introduction, a monologue on a given topic, and a longer discussion about the topic given in part two.
IELTS Reading contains three passages which contain the answer of 40 questions. Each question carries one mark. This test lasts for 60 minutes, make sure you master the techniques like skimming and scanning, to cover all the questions and to get the targeted band score in the Reading module of IELTS.
Within 60 minutes, the candidates should be able to complete two writing task. Task one will be different - General Training candidates should write letter whereas Academic candidates should prepare a report from a given diagram. But for task two both candidates should write an essay.
The IELTS Listening test lasts for 30 minutes, and an additional 10 minutes are given to candidates to transfer their answer to IELTS listening answer sheet. IELTS listening test contains four parts that have to be listened carefully to answer the 40 questions.
